Earth/Land

Missing Piece's performance of "Earth/Land" was premiered at Elastic Arts November 5th in Chicago Illinois. Earth/Land featured the creation of four new works - "Adaptive Artifaction/Eschautomation" by Chicago composer Ben Zucker, "searching for home" by Chicago composer Shi-An Costello, "HDGC" by L.A. composers Myra Hinrichs and Nate Friedman, and "The True Name of the Sun" by Oslo composer Luis Fernando Amaya. These four premieres are for violin, cello, and a 100+ piece handmade, pitched ceramic flower pot instrument created specifically for this event by Missing Piece violinist Dan Galat and in collaboration with other potters. The project aims to bring together artists and environmentalists across disciplines to have a conversation about the land we occupy and what we create with it.
